Hair and makeup – check.

I’ve blogged about how fab my 11 year old sister is at creating hairstyles before, and she really is so creative!

On Saturday night, I was going out and to be honest my hair is at a stage where it could do with a trim, so I wanted it putting up. She did it for me with a braid one side, a twist the other and then a bun at the back. I don’t think I’d be as good as her at doing hair now, never mind when I was so young.

She really is talented and has got a natural flare for it; it’s a great way for her to earn a bit of pocket money too 😉 hehe. She’s great at styling her own hair as well as other people’s.

It worked out well for me because my Mum used to be a beautician, so while my younger sister was doing my hair – my mum started doing my makeup. Haha – who needs a salon? It was nice because although I love makeup, I’m a bit of a stick it on and go type – while my Mum really pays attention to detail. I could do with them at my house every time before I go out!

The Tangle Teezer

The Tangle Teezer has become a popular bit of kit in our house!

I’ve been using the branded brush for some time now and I can honestly say it has transformed my life, well ok, not my whole life but certainly my mornings!

Me and my daughter both have very long hair and working my way through two heads of knots, believe me, wasn’t fun! I’m not a brush expert and I have no idea about the science behind them; however, I do know that I can now glide through my own hair with ease and no longer have a moaning five year old when styling her hair.

I came across the Tangle Teezer in a hair salon, after complaining about the difficulties that having long hair can bring. I have the Salon Elite version, whilst my daughter uses the Magic Flowerpot; they also come in Compact, Aqua Splash and Original styles.

If you have long locks, I definitely recommend investing in a Tangle Teezer!

How To – Fish Tail

The fish tail braid has become really popular lately; I love it as it’s so simple to do but looks really effective.

Whenever I wear my hair like this someone always asks how they can achieve it, so I thought I’d give you a step by step guide with pics. Give it a try – it’s easy, honest!

When I started this my hair was wavy as I’d had a fishtail braid in the day; I usually style it when my hair is still slightly damp from the shower so for this purpose I just wet it slightly.

Firstly, I split my hair into two sections.

I then take a small piece from one section and pass it over to the other side.

This process is simply repeated, taking one piece from one of the two sections and passing it over to the other side.

It will soon begin to take shape, and become a fish tail.

Carry on the process until it eventually looks like this –

On a work day I don’t like to have my fringe down, as it just gets in my face and annoys me so I usually just add a pretty clip to the front.

Hope this helps anyone who has been struggling with it 🙂
